Red Bull was first derived from a similar drink called Krating Daeng, which originated in Thailand and was introduced by the pharmacist Chaleo Yoovidhya in 1976. In 1984, Dietrich Mateschitz, an Austrian businessman, partnered with Yoovidhya to launch Red Bull in Austria. They adapted Krating Daeng's formula and gave it a distinctive blue and silver can design.
