It was a leading producer of flat-rolled carbon steel, stainless steel, and electrical steel products. The company was founded in 1999 as a joint venture between Armco and Kawasaki Steel Corporation. In 2020, it was acquired by Cleveland-Cliffs, an iron ore mining company.
