What sizes does the favicon generator produce?
PNGs at 16, 32, 48, 180, 192 and 512 pixels, plus a multi-resolution .ico containing the 16, 32 and 48 pixel versions.
Do I still need favicon.ico?
Modern browsers prefer the PNG links in your HTML, but some older browsers and feed readers request /favicon.ico directly, so it is still worth serving one.
What is the 180 pixel icon for?
That is the Apple touch icon, used when someone adds your site to an iOS home screen.
