BB&T, or Branch Banking and Trust Company, was a prominent American bank holding company headquartered in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. It was established in 1872 and grew to become one of the largest financial institutions in the United States, operating an extensive network of over 1,800 branches across the Southeast. BB&T offered a comprehensive suite of financial services, including checking and savings accounts, loans, wealth management, and investment products. In 2019, BB&T merged with SunTrust Banks to form Truist Financial Corporation, creating the sixth-largest bank in the nation.
