The Canadian Football League (CFL) is the premier professional Canadian football organization. It was founded in 1958 through the merger of the Interprovincial Rugby Football Union (IRFU) and the Western Interprovincial Football Union (WIFU). The league is currently composed of nine teams, each located in a major Canadian city. The CFL season runs from July to November, culminating in the Grey Cup championship game.
