KakaoTalk, also known as KaTalk in South Korea, is a smartphone messaging programme that is run by the Kakao Corporation. It was released on March 18, 2010, and both desktop and mobile platforms are supported. KakaoTalk has 53 million monthly active users as of August 2022, 47 million of whom were Korean. Free calling and texting are available on KakaoTalk. The user may exchange photographs, videos, voice messages, locations, web links, and contact details, similar to most of its kind. There is no user cap on the number of people in group chats or one-on-one discussions that users can start. In addition to other features that offer this service, it enables users to sync contact lists in order to communicate with friends who also use the service.
To identify friends who are using the service, the app instantly synchronises users' smartphone contact lists with the app's contact list. Users don't need to know friends' phone numbers to search for them by KakaoTalk ID. Users of the KakaoTalk service may now export and preserve their messages. Initially a chat service, KakaoTalk has evolved into a distribution hub for a wide range of third-party apps and content, including hundreds of games, which users may download and play with their friends via the messaging platform.
It is a no-cost mobile service that provides group chats, audio and video conversations, text messaging, and more. Although KakaoTalk resembles Line or WeChat, it has been operating for 12 years. But between 2015 and 2021, there will be an increase of almost 8 million users globally, indicating how popular it has become in recent years.
In addition to offering voice calls, KakaoTalk now offers video chatting. The instant messaging application also includes animated emoticons. It uses your KaTalk ID instead of your mobile number, unlike WhatsApp.
