Launched on October 2, 2014, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, also known as the Clean India Mission, is a nationwide campaign in India aimed at achieving an open-defecation-free (ODF) India by October 2, 2019, the 150th anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi's birth. This ambitious initiative has brought about a significant transformation in India's sanitation landscape, with over 10 crore individual household toilets constructed and a substantial increase in sanitation coverage.
