The Belize Police Department (BPD) is the law enforcement agency responsible for maintaining law and order in Belize. Established in 1886, the BPD has a long and storied history of serving the people of Belize. The department is headquartered in Belize City and has jurisdiction over the entire country. The BPD is currently led by Commissioner of Police Chester Williams. The department is divided into three territorial divisions: Eastern, Central, and Western. Each division is headed by an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP). The BPD also has a number of specialized units, including the Criminal Investigation Branch, the Tactical Service Unit, and the Marine Unit. The BPD is committed to providing a safe and secure environment for all Belizeans. The department works closely with the community to prevent crime and to investigate and prosecute criminals.
