The Montreal Canadiens, also known as the "Habs," are a professional ice hockey team based in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. They compete in the National Hockey League (NHL) as a member club of the Atlantic Division in the Eastern Conference. Founded in 1909, the Canadiens are the oldest continuously operating professional ice hockey team worldwide, and the only existing NHL club to predate the founding of the NHL. With 24 Stanley Cup championships, the Canadiens are the most successful team in NHL history. Their home arena is the Bell Centre, which they have called home since 1996.
