Instituto Politécnico Nacional (IPN), meaning National Polytechnic Institute in English, is a public Mexican higher education institution, specialized in technical and scientific fields. It was founded in 1936 by President Lázaro Cárdenas del Río, with the aim of providing the country with the technical and scientific skills needed for its industrial development.
