Société Nationale d'électricité du Burkina Faso (SONABEL) is the national electricity company of Burkina Faso. It was founded in 1995 and is headquartered in Ouagadougou. The company is responsible for the production, transmission, distribution, and sale of electricity throughout the country. SONABEL has a total installed capacity of 900 MW and produces approximately 1,800 GWh of electricity per year. The company serves over 1.5 million customers.
