Tanzania, officially the United Republic of Tanzania, is a country in East Africa. It is bordered by Kenya to the north, Uganda to the northwest, Rwanda to the west, Burundi to the southwest, Zambia to the south, and Mozambique to the southeast. The Indian Ocean lies to the east. Tanzania is the largest country in East Africa by land area and the second-largest by population, after Nigeria. The country's coastline is approximately 840 kilometres (522 mi) long.
